Who is the Advanced Wilderness First Aid course for?

The Advanced Wilderness First Aid for anyone who wants more than Wilderness First Aid, but not as much as Wilderness First Responder, such as river guides.

What is the difference between Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and Advanced Wilderness First Aid (AWFA)?

The Advanced Wilderness First Aid (AWFA) course goes into greater depth than the Wilderness First Aid (WFA) on the basic first aid subjects. The course emphasizes leadership skills and presents new skills such as litter packaging and traction splinting.

What is taught?

Building on the Wilderness First Aid (WFA), the Advanced Wilderness First Aid (AWFA) course goes into greater depth on the basic first aid subjects, emphasizes leadership skills, and presents new skills such as building improvised litters and litter carrying.

Where and When are Advanced Wilderness First Aid courses held?

How much does a Advanced Wilderness First Aid course cost?

The total price will vary depending on the sponsoring organization and what amenities (e.g. room and board) they include. What about room and board?

Courses hosted by SOLO Canada offer suitable accommodations and a full-time kitchen staff providing meals.  SOLO Canada’s location offers the perfect environment for wilderness medicine training.

Is there an exam?

Yes, there is ongoing evaluation of practical skills, and there is a written test at the end of the course.

Do I get certified?

Yes. You will receive a SOLO Canada Advanced Wilderness First Aid (AWFA) certification, which is good for two years.
